青木航太（あおき・こうた）は1985年茨城県に生まれ、2007年に京都造形芸術大学（現・京都芸術大学）美術工芸学科日本画コースを卒業。2010年に東京藝術大学大学院修士課程壁画研究室を修了。現在は茨城県を拠点に制作活動を続けています。青木は在学以前から日本画やフレスコ画、テンペラ画など様々な絵画技法に取り組んで来ましたが、近年は培った知識と技術を活かしつつ、紙や漆喰に墨を使った絵画をメインに制作しています。

Born in Ibaraki Prefecture in 1985, Kouta Aoki graduated from the Kyoto University of Art and Design (the current Kyoto University of the Arts) with a bachelor’s degree in Nihonga (Japanese-style painting) from the Department of Fine and Applied Arts in 2007, and from the Tokyo University of the Arts with a master’s degree in mural painting in 2010. He remains engaged in activities of artistic production based in Ibaraki. Right from his university days, he has applied various painting techniques as evidenced by his Nihonga, frescoes, and tempera paintings. While drawing on the knowledge and skills he has acquired in the process, he has been making mainly paintings using Indian ink on paper or stucco in recent years.
